Bhubaneswar, Jan 15 (LocalWire) Traders in several cities and towns in Odisha including in state capital Bhubaneswar on Wednesday staged protests against Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as he arrived in India on a brief visit.
Accusing the company of adopting unfair practices, the traders also urged the central government to intervene and protect the interest of the small traders.
In Bhubaneswar members of the Federation of All Odisha Traders Association staged a demonstration near Kali temple at unit 9.
The protesters were seen carrying placards and shouting slogans Amazon go back ..go back. Similar protests were also observed in other cities including at the steel city of Rourkela and Cuttack.
“We are the owner of our country and the trade of our country is ours” association general secretary Sudhakar Panda told LocalWire.
Many trade associations across India are protesting the India visit of the Amazon founder.
For the last few months, the organization of small traders have been organising protests against multinational companies accusing them of offering huge discount and snatching away their businesses.
