Bhubaneswar, September 2 (LocalWire):The Odisha government has requested the UGC to extend the UG/PG exam completion deadline from September 30 to October 10, today.
This will ensure scheduling of exams with a gap of at least one day so that the exam centres can be sanitised properly, the state government said today.
The secretary of the higher education department Saswat Mishra has written a letter to the UGC in this regard.
Exam preparedness was discussed with the vice chancellors of the universities and the principals of autonomous colleges through video conferencing.
All of them were of the view that about twenty days would be required to make the necessary preparations for the exams.
“In order to complete the exams by Sept 30, 3-4 exams would need to be slotted in one day which would lead to the congregation of a large number of students and make the compliance of COVID-19 protocol difficult,” Mishra said in the letter.
On behalf of the state government, he urged the UGC to consider extending the exam deadline upto Oct 10.
