Bhubaneswar, July 31 (LocalWire): The state government won the prestigious Technology Sabha Awards instituted by Indian Express group, for its Early Warning Dissemination System, chosen under the Unified Communications category.
Editor, Express Computer, Srikanth RP, congratulated Bishnupada Sethi, Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha and managing director OSDMA for winning the award and invited him to the awards function, which will be hosted at Jaipur from 8-10 August.
The system is the first-of-its-kind automatic public address system in the country.
It warns people residing along the coast, through loud sirens, from towers installed at 122 locations, in the event of the occurrence of natural disasters like cyclones.
The system helped the state protect lives of the people during Cyclone Fani.
