Bhubaneswar, April 22 (Local Wire): The Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Limited (OHPC) celebrated its Silver Jubilee year on Wednesday as part of their continuous service to the state.
The government-owned Public Sector Unit (PSU) was incorporated as a corporate entity on 21.04.1995. Bishnupada Sethi, CMD of OHPC on the occasion thanked his employees for helping the organisation grow step by step in the last 25 years.
OHPC recently had extended its support to Odisha government by providing necessary financial assistance for setting two COVID-19 Hospitals in the state.
The Hospital at Gajapati has 110 beds while that at Balasore has 120 beds.
OHPC at present contributes about 20% of the State’s electricity demand and about 40% of the peak demand of the State. OHPC now operates 6 power stations located across the state.
The PSU in the recent past has ventured into generation of energy from renewable sources like solar, small hydro, pump storage projects and others on its own and through its subsidiaries.
It has also diversified into the field of thermal power generation and coal production by way of joint ventures with some leading State Corporations.
