Bhubaneswar, Sept 26 (LocalWire): Orissa Human Rights Commission (OHRC) directed a city-based private medical college and hospital authorities to pay Rs 2.50 lakh compensation to the father who blamed doctors of negligence leading to his newborn’s death.
The OHRC adjudicating the petition asked the Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) to initiate official action for the speedy disbursal of the money to the petitioner,said the petition.
Nanda, a native of Puri, had admitted his pregnant wife at a city based private hospital.
A male child was born to the Nandas on 9 February, 2017.
Six days later, the baby was declared dead by the hospital authorities.
There were injury marks on the baby’s scalp, which had been stitched up by doctors, the petition had contended, crying foul play in the treatment procedure of the medical college doctors.
