Kendrapara, Sept 24 (LocalWire): Three miscreants were arrested by Kendrapara police after they tried to loot an Ola car on Wednesday.
The arrested persons allegedly assaulted the driver after tying up his hands and legs.
The accused persons were identified as Trilochan Samantray of Galiganda and Paresh Parida and Biswajit Bai of Balipadia village. They trio had hired the Ola cab in Bhubaneswar at 4 am, to reach Pattamundai.
On the way, the trio tied up the driver and put him in the boot of the car. As luck would have it, the back door opened when they were near Pattamundai and the driver fell out of the moving car.
Some locals managed to rescue him and nabbed the miscreants after chasing them. The police seized a revolver from them.
The accused were booked under sections 364(A) and 394 of the IPC (kidnapping for ransom, voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and section 25 of the Arms Act.
The trio was produced in court at Pattamundai, upon which the court rejected their bail applications and remanded them in jail custody, said Niti Sekhar the Superintendent of Police of Kendrapara.
