Berhampur, May 1 (LocalWire): Security forces on Tuesday recovered two landmines weighing around 15kg and 35 kg inside the jungles near Dhepaguda in Gajapati district.
The explosives were inside a tiffinbox and it is suspected that they were planted by Maoists when they were active in the area some years ago, said SP (Gajapati) Sarah Sharma. Police and security forces conducted an operation after a tip off and exploded the devices, she said.
Although the rebel activities had minimised in the district, their movement in the area is still continuing, officials said. On 9 April, security personnel had recovered a 35 kg landmine from Jhiliki culvert.
