Bhubaneswar, December 14 (LocalWire) The Odisha government on Saturday decided to award six Khondalite minor mineral blocks to State-run Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), said senior officials here today.
The mineral blocks have been kept reserved for OMC, which will have exclusive rights of extracting the minor minerals from the blocks.
The revenue generated from the blocks will be utilized for infrastructure revamp of pilgrim town of Puri, the revered abode of Lord Jagannath.
Currently, the state government has chalked out an ambitious Rs 265 crore worth ABHADA scheme for Puri’s infra development. OMC will release the mining blocks’ revenue towards the scheme, the officials added.
Of the six mining blocks reserved for OMC, three blocks are in Jajpur district while one each is located in Khurda and Cuttack district, they concluded.
