Bhubaneswar, Oct 13 (LocalWire): One person was killed and as many as 33 others seriously injured in separate roads accidents in the state today, police said.
A youth died on the spot after the motorcycle he was riding rammed into a tree on NH 19 near Baripada-Udala Road under Badasahi police station limits in Mayurbhanj district.
The deceased was identified as Bhatta Singh of nearby Bhattapur village.
The police handed over the body to his family after post-mortem.
Seventeen people were injured, four of them critically, after a truck and a Angul-bound bus had a head-on collision near Telkoi in Keonjhar.
All the injured were being treated at the district headquarters hospital at Keonjhar where the condition of two was stated to be critical, sources said.
In another road mishap, 11 persons were seriously injured when an auto-rickshaw collided with a car on NH 60 near Jaleswar in Balasore district.
All the injured are being treated at the district headquarters hospital, they said.
Five members of a family sustained critical injuries after a truck hit the car in which they were travelling on NH 16 near Bhandaripokhari in Bhadrak.
The victims, hailing from West Bengal, were returning home after having darshan of deities at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
They have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Bhadrak for treatment.
Inquiry into all the accidents is continuing, sources said.
