Bhubaneswar, June 23 (LocalWire): One servitor of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri town has been tested positive for Coronavirus, the state government said.
According to the Puri district administration, the state conducted sample testing of 1143 servitors and found most of them negative against the viral disease.
This comes after the direction from the Supreme Court which asked for testing of servitors involved in the Rath Yatra procession.
The Puri administration said that the patient servitor has been shifted to COVID Hospital and will not take part in the procession.
“Coronavirus tests of 1143 servitors were undertaken on June 22 as per Supreme Court directions.
Except one, all are found negative,” a statement from the district administration said.
It also added, “Confirmed case has been shifted to COVID Hospital before Rath Yatra rituals.
Contact tracing is being done and the area has been contained,” the statement from the Puri district administration said.
