Bhubaneswar, Feb 12 (LocalWire) Gates of the premier, IIT Bhubaneswar were today thrown open for young science enthusiasts across the state who walked into the sprawling campus hosting the third edition of its ‘Open Day and Garand Science and Technology Exhibition.’
Close to 10,000 students from various schools and colleges who visited the campus were left spellbound amid more than 250 live scientific projects put on display by the brilliant minds of the premier institute.
It was an impressive sight to watch the participants explain their projects on Energy, Materials, Healthcare, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and Biosciences to the visitors in a simple and easy-to-understand language.
“The objective of the exhibition is to attract school kids from remote regions.
Our focus has been to draw the interest of girl students to the sphere of Science and Technology,” said Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar- the brain behind the event.
“The concept of Open day and Exhibition is totally unique in the entire IIT system.
The best part of the event is that the students can spend their time in the Institute for a full day and witness the scientific projects at the exhibition.
Our students and faculty have been participating in this event for the last three years with high level of enthusiasm and spirited zeal.
The visiting students will also gain a unique perspective of science and technology by being inquisitive and voluntarily participating in the live experiments,” the Director added.
“It was an exciting, enriching and knowledgeable experience for all of us and has definitely helped me shape my decisions on my future career,” said Himanshu Mishra, a student from DAV Chandrashekharpur.
Notably, IIT Bhubneswar has been making efforts to students from schools and universities as part of its ambitious Outreach Programme.
The Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan (UBA), , also a flagship programme of MHRD aimed at improving the living and education standards in the country.
The Institute’s Foundation Day programme scheduled for tomorrow will be inaugurated by Governor of Andhra Pradesh Biswabhusan Harichandan.
