Bhubaneswar, Oct 14 (LocalWire): The opposition parties today fired salvos against the ruling government on the issue of rape of a minor girl from Tirtol in Cuttack district.
This comes after a report of a minor girl being raped for 22 days came into the fore. The opposition parties even questioned the moral ground of the BJD on fighting from Tirtol in the light of the incident.
“The infamous incident shows the deteriorating law and order situation of the state.
I want to ask on moral ground BJD is planning to fight polls there if the girls and women here are not safe and crime is rampant,” Odisha BJP spokesperson Lekhashri Samantsinghar said.
The Congress party also held a press meet and blamed the government for their poor records on women safety and overall crime management.

The government has failed to earn the trust of the people due to its dismal performance in maintaining law and order in the state,” Congress spokesperson Nishikant Mishra told reporters.
The opposition parties have demanded timely action by the police and asked for arrest of the accused. BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra meanwhile termed the allegations of the rivals as their own theories.
