Bhubaneswar, May 1 (LocalWire) Former Union Minister Jual Oram on Friday wrote to chief minister Naveen Patnaik seeking aid for an Asha worker who died on April 27 in Sundergarh district.
In his letter Oram stated that the woman died while she was on duty to control Covid 19.
The state government had recently announced that all health personnel who lose their lives in service towards COVID-19 patients would be treated as martyrs and be given an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 50 lakhs.
In his letter the former minister who represents Sundergarh in Lok Sabha Nirmala Soreng of Kankerjora village of Sundargarh district was working as an Asha worker at Kinjirkela Community Health Centre (CHC).
The family of Ms. Soreng belongs to Oram’s constituency.
Oram has urged the chief minister to extend all possible help including financial aids of Ra. 50 lakh as declared by the government, to the family member of Soreng.
