Bhubaneswar, November 28 (LocalWire) BJP MP and former union minister Jual Oram on Thursday urged the central government to complete the expansion of National Highway no: 215 to improve communication in his constituency.
Expressing displeasure over the inordinate delay in the work stretching from Panikoili to Rimuli and Rimuli to Rajamunda that connect the State capital with Keonjhar and Sundargarh district, he has stated unless the entire project is completed, it will not serve the purpose of the people.
The Rs 668 crore expansion project of Panikoili-Rajamunda section of NH-215 was accorded sanction by the ministry of road transport and highways way back in 2004-05.
The project had been taken up for implementation by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under National Highway Development Project (NHDP-III) back in 2007.
However tardy pace of progress has triggered pubic resentment as parts of the 269 kilo metre stretch highway is reduced to dilapidated state and not motorable.
The first phase of the project stretching from Panikoili to Rimuli covering 173 kms has been completed while second phase- 96 kms long stretch from Rimuli to Rajamunda is lying incomplete.
In the interest of the people and particularly the need to provide direct connection from the State capital Bhubaneswar to Rourkela, I call upon the competent authorities to initiate steps for expeditiously complete the road project, raising the issue in the Lok Sabha Oram said.
