Bhubaneswar, May 29 (LocalWire): The Nanjing Automation Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydrology (NAIWCH) has praised the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) for saving millions of lives during cyclone Fani.
In a letter to the special relief commissioner Bishnupada Sethi, it said OSDMA had helped save millions of lives from a potentially destructive cyclone on May 3.
OSDMA had evacuated over 1.5 million people from the low lying areas before Fani’s landfall.
NAIWCH said OSDMA had successfully executed the operation in a very short time.
“We believe a good leader has the ability to get things done efficiently and effectively. This has been well witnessed with the action that your team took,” NAIWCH Director General Jiang Zhaohong said.
“Our sincere appreciation goes to your strong leadership and the OSDMA team. This can be a good example to all the countries while dealing with such types of events,” Jiang said.
