Bolangir, August 31 (LocalWire): Railway officers today released 500 pigeons at the Banda Reserve Forest in the outskirt of Bolangir.
The Railway officials had seized the birds from two persons traveling from Kolkata in Howrah-Titiligarh Samleshwari Express on Friday.
The accused who were handed over to the local forest department here have been identified as Nadi Kishore Durga and Dhani Ram Durga of Tamachhada village in Kalahandi district.
These pigeons were brought from Kolkata and the duo planned to sell them in the Manikeswari Jatra of Kalahandi.
Bolangir Forest officials have registered a case under section 9/48A/50 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and the arrested persons were presented before the court today.
