Bhubaneswar, April 12 (LocalWire): Polling was incident-free during the first phase of the elections and 73.76% voting was registered out of which male voters were 73.09% and female voters 74.43% informed the Chief Electoral Officer here today.
Of the tribal districts, Nabarangpur recorded the highest turnout of 78.89% followed by Kalahandi and Koraput with 75.82% and 74.77% respectively. In Berhampur, the voting percentage was 65.57%
‘The voting percentage of female voters is a good sign,’ said the CEO, Surendra Kumar.
In the Assembly segment, the highest percentage of polling was registered in Kotapad block with 86.83%.
‘However, the lowest percentage was recorded in Berhampur Assembly constituency with 56.34%,’ he said.
As per the data available with the State Election Commission, fresh polling will be held in two booths.
‘We recommended the Election Commission for fresh polling in two booths, in Malkangiri and Berhampur Lok Sabha segment. Scrutiny is underway by the poll observers and we will provide more details if ECI seeks before taking the final decision,’ Kumar said.
