Bhubaneswar, Mar 5(LocalWire): Celebrated philanthropic tea seller from Cuttack and Padmashri awardee D Prakash Rao on Thursday urged the people from the state to donate blood as a noble gesture to save more lives.
He also tried to bust the myth that blood donation in any way can weaken the body.
The legendary iconic figure on Thursday visited the office of the 108 ambulance operation centre in the state capital to take part in the event to mark the completion of seven years of the ambulance service in the state.
He interacted with the employees working there and tried to boost the morale of the workers.
The agency handling the 108 ambulance service had organized a blood donation camp on Thursday to mark the completion of seven years of operations.
Several youths on Thursday were seen lined up for donating their blood as a noble gesture.
Rao was called as the chief guest to boost the morale of the blood donors.
He said, “With your noble gesture you are not only revitalizing your body but giving a very valuable contribution to the society.
Your donation can save a life which is a matter to be proud of.
I want that more number of people come forward and donate blood to increase chances of more survival of people in critical situations,”
The 108 ambulance service was started in March 5, 2013. Sabyasachi Biswal, head of the operation centres of 108 said, “We have strengthened and scaled our services in providing ambulance service in state.
We received 34 million calls out of which 47 lakhs jobs ids were created to serve people.
Our employees’ good work receives praise and accolades from many corners.”
