Bolangir, August 31 (LocalWire): A pangolin was rescued by the residents of Utkal Nagar, near Sai Krupa hostel of Bolangir town on Saturday night.
The villagers informed the snake helpline on coming across the animal, who in turn informed the officials of the Bolangir forest range.
“After getting information on its exact location, the pangolin was rescued by forest officials,” said an officer of the Bolangir forest range, B. K. Khuntia.
Reportedly, the pangolin was released inside somewhere in the Bolangir forest range on Sunday evening.
This is the second such incident of a pangolin being found in Bolangir district. A few months ago, a Pangolin was rescued from Karkachia chowk in Loisingha forest Range, which was later released in the Bolangir forest.
Conservationists have demanded adequate action for the protection of this highly endangered animal.
