Berhampur, Dec 23 (LocalWire): Forest officials on Sunday said they have rescued an Indian Pangolin and arrested five traffickers during a raid in Gunupur of Ganjam district.
The accused were smuggling the pangolin weighing about 10 km.
Acting on a tip off, a joint team of police and forest officials raided at the Gunupur new bus stand and arrested the accused, including two women from Palasa in Andhra Pradesh.
Police also seized a car from the spot bearing registration number of Bhubaneswar RTO.
Notably, pangolins are listed under Schedule 1 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
