Baripada, Dec 8 (LocalWire): The Crime Branch officials on Saturday said they have rescued two Indian Pangolins from Udala area in Mayurbhanj district.
Four people involved in wildlife trafficking in Odisha were arrested in this connection.
The accused had contacted two wildlife mafias from outside the state to sell the endangered animals – a female and a baby pangolin – at Rs 23 lakh.
Acting on a tip off, Crime Branch Superintendent of Police Satyajit Nayak sent a Special Task Force (STF) team to Mayurbhanj.
The STF officers, in disguise, contacted the traffickers as wildlife mafias to crack a deal and nabbed the four.
Notably, pangolins are listed under Schedule 1 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
