Paradip, Dec 7 (LocalWire) Irate mob blocked the road at Dochaki of Paradip town demanding compensation for death of one contract worker of Chennai Radha Engineering Works Pvt Ltd (CREW), reports said on Friday.
Sources said CREW, which is a leading company in bulk material handling system, is in charge of coal operation and maintenance of Paradip port.
The deceased contract worker Babuli Pallei was a resident of Nimidihi under Paradeep Lock police limit.
Pallei reportedly felt suffocated and collapsed on the ground while he was working at the prohibited area of Paradip port.
His co-workers shifted him to Atharbanki hospital for treatment but he passed away on Thursday.
During treatment, his family members and colleagues contacted the higher authority of CREW but they allegedly did not respond.
Hundreds of villagers united and blocked the road at Dochaki of Paradip town demanding compensation and job opportunity to one member of the deceased.
Vehicular traffic was paralyzed for four hours on Cuttack- Paradip State Highway and Paradip- Chandikhole National Highway due to the road blockade.
Later, the Paradip Police, led by Kujang Tahsildar Ramesh Chandra Panda, pacified the irate people and gave assurance to provide compensation and job opportunity to one member of the victim family.
The road blockade was lifted Thursday night.
