Jagatsinghpur, May 31 (LocalWire): Passengers plying on the Cuttack-Paradip rail route are unhappy over the poor facilities at the stations, including clean drinking water and rest rooms.
People of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Kendrapada depend on this railway line. Five important trains ply on this route: Santragachi-Paradeep Weekly Super First Express, Visakhapatnam-Paradeep Superfast Express, Puri-Paradeep Intercity Express, Cuttack-Paradeep MEMU and Cuttack-Paradeep Passenger.
Barring two or three stations on this route, all others are in a pathetic condition, said a passenger. Of the 14 railway stations, only two or three are in good condition, he added.
Gobind Ojha, coordinator of Cuttack Paradip Rail Yatri Surkahya Samiti, said railways has implemented projects like Wi-Fi and bio-toilet to modernize the stations but it’s a shame that there is no adequate drinking water, milk for baby and refreshment stalls for passengers in the stations.
At some stations there are also no over-bridges. The Samiti has submitted a memorandum to higher railway authorities for immediate remedial measures, Ojha said.
