Bhubaneswar, April 20 (LocalWire): Former minister and BJD candidate from Patkura assembly seat Bed Prakash Agarwalla passed away here on Saturday after a prolonged illness. He was 84.
Agarwalla was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
He was pitted against BJP’s Bijay Mohapatra from Patkura seat in Kendrapara district which will go to polls in the fourth phase on April 29.
“His death is a great loss for all of us. His organizational ability and dedication for the welfare of the public will be remembered forever,” Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik said in his condolence.
The former finance minister had won twice from Patkura in 2009 and 2014.
A pall of gloom has descended in Patkura after his death.
