Berhampur, March 9 (Localwire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hopes his flagship Kalia scheme for farmers will give him a winning momentum to see him through the polls.
Addressing a gathering at Nuagaon in tribal-dominated Kandhamal district on Saturday, he described his pet project as a game-changer for farmers.
“All eligible farmers will get financial assistance by April 1. No one will be deprived of Kalia benefits. I am keeping a watch on it,” Patnaik said to farmers and women SHG members.
He also warned them about opposition making false propagandas of the scheme, by labeling the government cash benefit as a loan.
Landless farmers and share-croppers will be hugely benefitted from the scheme, Patnaik said, adding that, his government is also providing interest free loans to farmers and women SHGs under Mission Shakti scheme, and exhorted them to obtain the benefits.
It was his second visit to the district in a month. He had earlier visited Phulbani to address a gathering of Biju Yuba Bahini members.
“I’m giving a special attention for Kandhamal’s development,” he declared in the meeting.
Poll observers said Kandhamal might be his last leg of his whirlwind campaign tour of the state.
