Berhampur, Jan 2 (LocalWire) It seems there is no respite from the cold wave condition in tribal dominated districts Kandhamal and Gajapati.
Kandhamal district headquarters town Phulbani recorded the minimum temperature of 4.5 degree Celsius, while hill town Daringibadi shivered at 5 degree Celsius on Wednesday.
Interior parts of the district, including Baliguda, Bramhanigaon, R. Udayagiri, Kotagarh, Belaghara, Raikia and Phiringia, also experienced severe cold as the minimum temperature in these pockets of the district dipped lower than the temperature in Phulbani.
Normal life in the district continued to remain paralyzed in the grip of unprecedented cold.
Gajapati, another tribal dominated district in southern Odisha, also reeled under severe cold that forced its residents to remain indoors till 9 am and from 5 pm.
A blanket of fog engulfed almost all areas of the two districts in morning hours causing low visibility conditions and affecting the flow of vehicular traffic.
People in several places were seen basking in the heat of bonfire.
Cold wave blowing from the northwest side and snowfall in Himanchal Pradesh are some of the reasons for the dip of mercury at several places in Odisha, including Kandhamal, said weather experts.
Weather experts predicted the cold climate in the district will prevail for some more days.
