Berhampur, March 25 (LocalWire): The Ganjam district administration has made special arrangements, including pick and drop facility, for people with special needs and elderly during polls, an official said.
This is expected to ensure large participation in the forthcoming twin elections, staring April 11.
Of the total 15, 24,391 voters in Ganjam district, 48,846 are people with disabilities.
“We will deploy over 1,000 vehicles to transport them, so as to ensure smooth exercise of their franchise,” said district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
In addition, each booth will have a help desk, toilet, drinking water and electricity, he said, adding that block-wise voters with special needs have been identified.

A quick response medical team will respond immediately in emergency situations, the collector said.
Ganjam district has two Lok Sabha and 13 assembly constituencies.
Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency and its five assembly segments: Berhampur, Chhatrapur, Chikiti, Digapahandi and Gopalpur in Ganjam district, as well as the reserved seats of Paralakhemundi and Mohana in Gajapati district will be go to polls on first phase on April 11.
