Bhubaneswar, Sept 13 (LocalWire): Authorities today rubbished the rumours that artificial eggs made of plastic was in circulation in Malkangiri, the southernmost tip of the state.
‘Canard is being spread by some elements with vested interest. Eggs are natural products with rich nutritional contents.
It cannot be produced artificially as it was reported today in Malkangiri district,’ said P K Biswal, a senior official of animal husbandry department and former director of Orissa State Poultry Products Co-operative Marketing Federation Limited.
‘Rumour of this nature can affect sale of eggs. The government is providing eggs to school children in the mid-day meal scheme. Parents of wards enrolled in schools are advised not to pay attention to such wild rumours,’ he said.
Romour mongers had also gone on an overdrive two years alleging the sale of plastic eggs in market in Bhubaneswar. The government had got it inquired by the commissioner of food safety. However, probes did not find veracity of plastic eggs.
