Bhubaneswar, May 22 (Local Wire): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday conducted an aerial survey of Amphan affected districts of the state and announced central assistance of Rs 500 crore to the state.
The PM upon his arrival was greeted by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor Ganeshi Lal.
He conducted his aerial survey of Balasore and Bhadrak districts to assess the impact of the cyclonic storm.
“After the aerial survey, Prime Minister chaired a meeting in Bhubaneshwar with the senior State and Central Government functionaries to review the situation.
He announced a financial assistance of Rs 500 crore to the State of Odisha, pending the assessment of the damage by an Inter-Ministerial Central Team,” a statement from the Press Information Bureau said.
As per the announcement of the PM, an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured in the cyclone in the State.
