Bhubaneswar, Mar 24 (Local Wire): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with the editors of leading Odia dailies from Odisha amid the threat of Coronavirus.
PM conducted the meeting through video conferencing and connected to the newspapers operational in the state during the crucial time.
Those present in the meeting with the PM included Tathagata Satpathy, Editor of Dharitri and Orissa POST, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Editor of Sambad.
Samaj working editor Sushanta Kumar Mohanty also participated in the meeting.
The PM discussed with the editors the issue and its increasing threat and sought their response on the issue.
It is learnt that the team has discussed on how to function during the crucial time when lockdowns are rampant and threat of COVID infections are rising.
Many residential societies and consumers have now stopped entry of newspapers into their households citing threat of spread of the infection from outside on the state.
The print industries on the other side has been denying the charges and citing medical experts views to refute the charges that newspapers could be carriers of infection.
The media fraternity on the other side has been exempted from the lockdown and are working under threat to serve the consumers of print, digital and electronic media to brief them about the scenario in the state and also busting the rumours making around on social media.
Several newspapers have now decided to either close printing for a while while some have allowed their employees to work from home.
