Koraput, March 8 (LocalWire): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday fired fresh salvos at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal, and said thousands of local youth would have got employment, had he given the contract to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
“HAL has 70 years of experience in making fighter jets, but PM lobbied for Anil Ambani’s company, which has never made an aircraft. Now he has added Rs.45,000 crore burden to the exchequer,” he said.
“PM snatched away the jobs that local youth in Odisha would have also got,” he said addressing a public meeting at Jeypore in Koraput district.
He also targeted Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over his alleged misgovernance; saying in his 19 years of rule he has “created more poor people in the state”.
“Only a few bureaucrats rule the state. If our government comes to power, it will be of the poor, and your voice will be heard in the chief minister’s office,” he added.
Gandhi reiterated his promise of waving farm loan, increase minimum support price of paddy to Rs. 2,600 per quintal and minimum guaranteed income to poor unemployed youth if voted to power.
He also vowed to pass the women’s reservation bill in parliament if his party voted to power.
