Berhampur, August 13 (LocalWire): The local police have arrested two persons on charges of smuggling ganja near Muslipanga under Kandhamal district’s Phiringia police station limits on Monday.
The police seized over 106-kg of contraband worth around Rs 3.50 lakh from the duo along with a car, on which they were transporting the ganja.
The accused persons have been identified as Babula Kanhar (35) of Sarupada and Ranjan Kanhar (20) of Goudapada village, the police said. They have been presented at the court.
The two accused were driving from Muslipanga side toward Sadiapanga when the police arrested them and seized the contraband during patrolling in the area, Phiringia Police Station inspector-in-charge P Shyam Sundar Rao said.
He further informed that the police investigation is on to ascertain the destination of the smuggled goods and the place from where the ganja was procured.
