Koraput, March 7 (LocalWire): With general elections round the corner, state police chief R.P. Sharma on Thursday reviewed the law and order and security preparedness in the districts.
The superintendent of police of six south-western districts, DIG Himansu Lal, inspector general of BSF and senior officers of CRPF attended the meeting chaired by DGP Sharma.
“A detailed discussion on security measures to be taken up for safety of people, candidates and campaigners during the poll was held.
All steps will be taken to ensure peaceful elections,” Sharma said.
Earlier, the DGP had interacted with the panchayat members of Malkangiri and Koraput districts, where ganja plant is grown in abundance, and urged them to encourage people for taking up other cultivation.
He also inaugurated a capacity building programme on cyber security for the SPs of south-western range.
