Jagatsinghpur, Oct 9 (LocalWire): The unidentified person who died of burn injuries in mysterious circumstances at Debgram village under Balikuda police limit has been identified as Krushna Champtiray of Kanchanpur village under Chandpur police station of Nayagarh district.
Champtiray doused himself in fuel after he was rejected in love on Saturday night, police said after preliminary investigations.
Hearing him screaming, villagers rushed to Debgram UP School where he tried self-immolation and shifted him to the district hospital in a critical condition. He succumbed to burn injuries on Sunday. Later, Balikuda police seized the body and sent it for postmortem and registered an unnatural death case.
The young man had written ‘Madhu’ in blood in the school grounds.
Following the clue police launched a hunt for the woman who would be the link to the cause of the victim’s death and his identification.
The young man’s wife Rashmita after getting to know about the incident indentified the body. She lodged an FIR at Balikuda police station stating that her husband was murdered by local miscreants as he had an extra-marital affair with a woman named ‘Madhu’ of the same locality.
He was working in a private company in Ahmedabad and had come home for Durga Puja.
Police identified the woman Madhu Mohanty and began investigations.
Jagatsinghpur SDPO , Prakash Chandra Pal, said, ‘as per preliminary investigations, it has been found that the youth was not murdered but he committed suicide.
The victim had developed feelings for a married woman after befriending her on Facebook and had decided to marry her.
After Madhu refused him, he set himself on fire’.
