Rourkela, December 12 (LocalWire): The Biramitrapur police have announced that they have solved the Rs 11-lakh block office robbery case and have arrested four people in this connection.
The incident had occurred at 7:30 am on 15 October this year when the cash meant for disbursal as pension was being brought from a private bank in Rourkela to Kurnamunda, around 20 km from here.
According to the FIR filed by the police, as soon as the vehicle bringing the cash reached the block office, four people surrounded the vehicle and took away the cash at gunpoint.
Speaking to the media, Sundergarh superintendent of police Soumya Mishra said, “We have successfully cracked the block office loot case.
We have arrested four persons in this case while two people were arrested immediately within two days of the crime.”
She further said that the police have seized two country-made weapons, one pistol, one revolver, and two live cartridges besides Rs 4.10 lakh in cash.
