Bhubaneswar, Sept 30 (LocalWire): The Angul district police today arrested the assailant who stabbed to death a local BJP leader in Antulia village under Purunakote police station jurisdiction last night.
The deceased, 55-year-old Jagabandhu Behera, was the Antulia panchayat ward member and president of Adivasi-Harijan Morcha of BJP’s Satkosia mandal.
Police had recovered his body in a pool of blood by the road and sent it for post-mortem.
The assailant, 40-year-old Sadananda Gadanayak, who lived in the neighbourhood of the deceased, has been taken into custody.
The weapon used for the crime has been seized from his possession.
Land dispute was the motive behind the murder, police said, adding that the accused was booked under Section 302 IPC and later remanded to judicial custody.
