Bhadrak, September 25 (LocalWire): After cracking down on spurious Zarda manufacturing units, the Bhadrak police have taken action against illegal tobacco manufacturer and detained three persons in this connection.
In a raid conducted on illegal tobacco manufacturing unit under the Purunabazar police station, the police have seized machinery and huge quantities of labels, and of branded companies.
According to police sources, the PCR unit became suspicious when they saw two persons loading packets of Zarda on a bus and on inquiry found the products to be spurious.
Following the investigation inspector-in-charge, Sarojini Singh learned that they were manufactured at a unit at Purunabazar and carried out the raid.
During the raid, the police found incriminating materials worth several lakhs that were seized.
According to the additional superintendent of police KC Parida, three persons were detained and further investigations were underway.
The police also found out that spurious tobacco was being sent to different destinations within and outside the state from the Purunabazar area.
It may be noted that Purnabazar area of Bhadrak town has been a hub of spurious fake branded tobaccos and the police had previously seized huge quantity of zarda and other materials from several units.
