Jajpur, Jan 3 (LocalWire) Dharmasala inspector-in-charge Umakanta Nayak was allegedly attacked by three members of a family at a village in Jajpur district on Thursday.
The police officer went to Odanga village to search Netrananda Mallick’s house to rescue a child as per the order of the district magistrate.
Accused Netrananda Mallick (60) and his two sons Haldhar Mallick (36) and Mohan Mallick (34) allegedly assaulted Nayak with a sharp weapon when he tried to enter their house.
The police officer sustained serious injuries on head.
He was first admitted at the government hospital at Dharmasala. Later he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack.
After knowing about the incident, police officials rushed to the village and arrested all the three attackers.
Police are investigating the case, said Jajpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kedar Sahoo.
