Bhubaneswar, April 3 (LocalWire): To ensure peaceful elections the commissionerate of police has decided to intensify the drive against antisocials, firearms and narcotics.
‘We have directed all police stations to intensify their drive against liquor and other narcotics. They have been asked to go ahead with night blockings and thoroughly check the vehicles in their area.
We have also asked them to execute pending NBWs,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar, Anup Kumar Sahoo.
Police seized as many as 26 firearms in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar between 1 February 1 and 2 April.
As per official statistics, 605 NBWs were executed during this period in the twin cities while 169 habitual offenders were booked under section 110 of CrPC. Similarly, police also seized 424 litres of foreign liquor.
Police seized brown sugar weighing 233 grams in the state capital.
