Bhubaneswar, November 10 (LocalWire) A day after the severe cyclonic storm BulBul passed over the coastal districts, authorities restored power for more than 85 per cent of the affected consumers, officials said on Sunday.
While the majority of the remaining consumers are expected to get back power today, the area where the damage was more, supply will be restored by Monday evening.
The storm passed over the several districts in the state without making the landfall on 9th Nov 2019.
However, a wind speed of 60-70 kilometres per hour caused damage to the power infrastructures affecting about 16 lakh consumers in the districts of Kendrapada, Jagatsighpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, and Mayurbhanj.
Of them power has been restored for 13.75 consumers, the officials said.
Out of the remaining consumers, about 70,000 consumers in Kendrapada and Jagtsinghpur District under CESU area and 60,000 consumers of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and part of Balasore under NESCO area will be restored power by today evening.
“All-out efforts are being made by mobilizing extra manpower and machinery for the affected areas”, secretary of the energy department Bishnupada Sethi told LocalWire.
The remaining 95,000 consumers will be given back power supply after restoring lines and sub-stations by tomorrow evening.
We have deployed forty-eight gangs in the affected districts under NESCO and thirty gangs in CESU area to restore the lines and sub-stations, he added.
