Paradip, September 16 (LocalWire): To create awareness about the cleanliness and hazards of plastic waste, the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) launched a cleanliness drive here today.
The PPT is observing the Swachhta Pakhwada from 16 to 30 September 2019.
As part of the inaugural campaign of the fortnight-long cleanliness drive, it organised an awareness rally, which was flagged off from PPT Administrative Building by the chairman Rinkesh Roy.
While senior officials of PPT, including the head of departments, were present on the occasion, lady volunteers of the Paradip Sakshyrata Samiti went around the local market to create awareness among the shopkeepers and vendors against single-use plastic or polythene.
A street play, Chakulia Panda, was also performed by the local cultural organisation CANMASS showcasing the menace of plastic.
