Bhubaneswar, Dec 26 (Localwire):A day after Christmas was celebrated with fervour across Odisha, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJD MP Sasmit Patra have slammed Pak army spokesman Asif Ghafoor for his sarcastic Merry Christmas greeting to the Christians in Odisha.
Pradhan targeted him saying “So says a man sitting at the epiccentre of genocide against religious and ideological minorities.”
Pradhan further said Christians were murdered in Pakistan and now Pak Army officer is worried about neighbours.
“Tell this babbler , all Christians are alive in India. And Merry Christmas also to the remaining few Christians in Pakistan”.
Major General Asif Ghafoor of Pakistan’s Inter-Service Public Relations, on his twitter handle on Wednesday tweeted “Very Merry Christmas to Christians in Pakistan, across the globe and especially to the ones in the states of Odisha and alike under the Hindutva obsessed environment.”
In a reply to him,Patra informed Pak Army officer “Please hear a young Christian MP from Odisha (since you referred to Odisha), slamming Pakistan’s anti-minority barbarism before 170 countries this year at 141 Inter-Parliamentary Union, Belgrade,” Patra, a Chiststian himself said.
Patra also reminded Pak Army officer that Christians are “butchered” in Pakistan, not in Odisha.
“Christians in Odisha are safe, strong and empowered. Not butchered as in Pakistan!”
Christmas was celebrated in full festive spirit in Odisha with traditional gaiety and fervor.
Braving the severe cold, thousands of Christians celebrated Christmas in communally sensitive Kandhamal district of the state.There was reports of peaceful celebrations.
