Berhampur, Feb 22 (LocalWire) : Ganjam district Administration has sealed a private hospital for allegedly violating the Clinical Establishments (registration and regulation) Act-2010, an official said on Saturday.
The district administration, however, has allowed the patients, who are in the hospital in post-delivery period to undergo treatment for the next seven days.
“The Privately run hospital was sealed for violation of the Clinical Establishments (registration and regulation) Act, said sub-collector (Berhampur), Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb. He, however, did not disclose the exact reason for violation in the hospital.
At the time of the seal, 16 patients were in the hospital. While one of them has been shifted to City Hospital, others have been allowed to undergo treatment for the next seven days, sources said.
Tension erupted in the hospital four days ago, after the death of a woman of Langipalli area following her appendicitis operation on Monday.
Family members of the deceased alleged that the death was due to the negligence of treatment and lodged an FIR against the owner of the hospital and doctor who conducted the operation.
Angered over the incident, several people of Langipalli had staged a demonstration in front of the revenue divisional commission and DIG office demanding quick action against the clinic and its owner on Monday.
