Bhubaneswar, Oct 30 (LocalWire) Odisha government on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the alleged surgery of an HIV-infected man at the operation theatre of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla without adhering to norms.
On the basis of report received from the head of the department of dental surgery wing, an inquiry committee has been constituted to ascertain whether the mandatory norms were followed during the performance of surgery of the man on September 28 last, said VIMSAR Superintendent Jayashree Dora.
Surgery was conducted on 12 patients including that of the HIV-infected man.
The surgeon who performed the surgery has been summoned to appear before the inquiry committee, she said.
However, they have received report of the surgery being conducted with due procedures prescribed for HIV/AIDS cases, she said.
