Bhubaneswar, June 9 (LocalWire): The state leadership of the Congress party today threatened to move to the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the Lokayukta on the issue of procurement row.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik held a press conference today to announce the move by the party.
“If the state government fails to respond with clarity on the irregularities in procurement of equipment for Coronavirus we will launch our agitation and move to the CVC and the Lokayukta,’ he said.
Patnaik attacked the government on the move of the state government to not use Government Marketplace (GeM) for procurement of maks and PPE kits and procuring masks and PPE kits at exorbitant prices.
“Manys states bought the masks below Rs 8/piece but the Odisha government got it for Rs 16/piece. It also bought PPE kits at different rates.
The ministers must come clean on the irregularities in procurement charges,” he said.
Meanwhile an FIR was today filed by a think tank of RTI activists relating to the case while a PIL has already been filed on the matter in Orissa High Court.
BJD and State Health Minister Naba Kishore Das meanwhile have refuted the charges of irregularities and claimed that everything was done as per government norms.
