Berhampur, March 9 (Localwire): Several people, including family members of a deceased elderly man, staged a road block in Digapahandi, some 30-km from here on Saturday, over alleged negligence of doctors that resulted in his death at the hospital.
They alleged that the 72-year old man died due to the absence of doctors at the community health center in Digapahandi.
The family members and others did not allow the hospital staff to conduct a post-mortem of the dead body for several hours, demanding strict action against the erring doctors.
Ranka Parida was admitted to the hospital after he was rescued from drowning in a pond in Rama Chandrapur village, Patapur police inspector Ramesh Chandra Pradhan said.
Chief district medical officer Ganjam Bijay Kumar Panigrahy said, a senior medical officer has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
