Berhampur, Feb 10 (LocalWire): A large number of people on Saturday staged road blockade for several hours at various places in Aska are to protest the transfer of Aska police station inspector-in-charge Santosh Kumar Jena to Rourkela.
People blocked road demanding cancellation of Jena’s transfer order.
Jena joined Aska PS in December 2017. During his one-year stay in Aska, he has solved several murder cases arresting the accused.
“We want Jena to stay in Aska for upcoming elections to the state assembly and Lok Sabha” said one of agitators.
Ahead of the twin elections, as many as 64 police officers of the rank of inspector have been transferred across the state on Friday. Of them, 13 were from Ganjam district.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) had recently directed the state government to transfer all the officers who have completed three years in one place.
