Jagatsinghpur, May 31 (LocalWire): Frequent and undeclared power cuts have caused resentment among the residents of Raghunathpur; for which irate youths today attacked three electricity officials for cutting the power supply.
Sources said that in the 47 isolation centers currently operating in different Panchayats, nearly 465 migrant returnees have been housed.
Many of these centers do not have any inverters due to which these workers are living in pathetic conditions because of frequent power cuts during the current hot weather.
After cyclone Amphan, power supply has been restored in all villages but many villages like Tarapur, Khandtiri, Chikina, Harishpur still suffer frequent undeclared power cuts.
Yesterday, irate youths protested in front of the office of Tarapur substation against undeclared power cuts of 12 to 14 hours each day in local grids, causing them a lot of trouble.
During the demonstration, unarmed youths attacked local lineman Bijay Kumar Nayak and two helpers Arun Swain & Ratanakar Mallick, at which they have lodged an FIR in Raghunathpur police station.
IIC of Raghunathpur police station Niranjan Mallick has informed “Four persons were involved in the attack on electricity employees; one person was arrested in this connection and then released on PR bond while other three accused are absconding”.
