Jagatsinghpur, March 30 (LocalWire): BJD workers on Saturday protested against the nomination of Sambit Routray, son of sitting MLA Damodar Rout, as the party candidate for Paradip assembly seat.
Party workers held a demonstration outside Naveen Niwas and submitted a memorandum to party supremo Naveen Patnaik to cancel Routray’s nomination.
Abiram Samal, a BJD leader from Paradip alleged that other eligible BJD leaders have been ignored for the seat because Routray has the support of his father.
“No one knows him there. Now that only one month is left for elections, it will be difficult for him to connect with voters,” Samal said.
He said that the party workers will boycott polls if his candidature is not withdrawn.
