Bhubanewar, Feb 16 (LocalWire) Mortal remains of two Odia jawans, who were among the 49 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, reached here on Saturday.
According to reports, Havildar Prasanna Kumar Sahu of CRPF 61 Battalion hailed from Shikhar village in Naugaon block of Jagatsinghpur district, while Constable Manoj Kumar Behera belonged to Ratanpur village under Niali area in Cuttack district.
As their bodies, wrapped in the National Flag, reached Bhubaneswar airport, the martyrs were given Guard of Honour.
Last rites of the jawans will be conducted at their respective villages later in the day.
Meanwhile, Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik enhanced the ex-gratia to Rs. 25 lakh from the earlier announced Rs. 10 lakh for each of the family of the two jawans.
Around 3.15 pm on Thursday, a suicide bomber from Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed a Mahindra Scorpio SUV carrying over 350 kg of explosives into a CRPF bus in Pulwama, killing at least 49 jawans and injuring several others.
The bus was among a 78-vehicle convoy that was carrying 2,547 security personnel from the transit camp in Jammu to Srinagar.
The suicide bomber was identified as Adil Ahmed Dar, 22, a resident of Gundibagh village in Pulwama of South Kashmir.
